I Heart Faces Fix-It Friday

It’s Fix-It Friday #49 at i heart faces!! It is a “just-for-fun” day when we can show new photo editing tricks and explain how we “fixed-up” the special photo provided for us. The really awesome part is that everyone gets a chance to show off their own photo editing skills.

This week’s photo comes from Jessie who blogs at The Lucas Zoo. This photo is of her adorable daughter, Violet.

At first, I didn’t see that this photo needed all that much work. But after closer inspection, here’s what I did to make it more how I would like it.

  • I opened the photo in Photoshop CS3 (I’m a holdout until CS5 comes out soon!)
  • I took out just a hit of blue using a Curves Adjustment Layer
  • I bumped up the contrast a bit too
  • Then, because I like my colors to pop, I did a little color saturation just to the headband, clothes, doll, and a bit on her hair
  • I lightened her eyes a bit and sharpened them
  • I cropped the photo to put the focus on her pretty face, resized for the web, and sharpened the whole photo a bit.
